Our review

Koa has long been the tone wood of choice for ukuleles. In fact, it's believed that the first ukulele was made out of Hawaiian Koa. It's a visually stunning wood with intense striping and orange hues. The wood is so beautiful that it's used in high end furniture.

The Bondi Ripple Koa Series uses this beautiful wood for the top, back, and sides of the body. This creates a balanced tone with a slight mid push. Mahogany is used for the neck because of its stability and feel. The fretboard and bridge are made from ebony and provide a wonderful contrast to the Koa.

The Ripple Koa ukuleles are finished in semigloss to make the striping pop. An elegant Indigo Blue Pearl binding and headstock inlay completes the look. These are high quality ukes with a wonderful tone that stands out in the mix.

Beautiful looking Ukulele

My first Ukelele got lost in the post. I contacted Ukulelemate and once I sent them the Australia Post comments about the whereabouts of my Uke they sent me a second one. The Uke is beautiful to look at and the finish is lovely. I didn’t like the strings so have changed them and am now much happier with the sound. The lower frets where you strum are rough and I catch the side of my finger on the rough edges quite often, so I tend not to play this Uke which is disappointing. I will take it to the music shop to get that fixed. My other comment would be that the nut has sharp edges and if like me you play with your hand over the nut for some notes you may find this uncomfortable, again my music store might be able to put on a new nut or round off the edges.

Bondi Ripple Koa Tenor ...... a few weeks on!!

Shortly after purchasing my Bondi Koa Tenor I submitted a brief review ..... singing the praises of this amazing instrument. I thought it might be worh submitting an update on just how my "baby" is going!!
Even before playing it I was drawn to the beautiful and flawless gloss finish on the Koa. My previous ukes have been functional but here was a thing of real beauty!!! A close friend in Adelaide (Im in Murray Bridge, South Australia) was so taken with both the appearance and playability of my Koa Bondi that he has just purchased one himself. On comparing our ukes the timber is quite different ..... meaning each of these instruments will be unique in terms of wood grain pattern ...... I like that!!
The uke took seconds to get in tune as it had obviously been set up well. String height at the 12th. fret was spot on and the frets were beautifully finished with no protruding edges.
All of my previous instruments*( **yes .... I suffer from "Ukulele Aquisition Syndrome" so I have many !!) were fitted with Aquila strings so the FluroCarbon strings on the Bondi were something new to me!!! They are amazing........ helping to give this uke a much crisper and well defined sound. I immediately ordered another set of D'addario strings to try on one of my other ukes..... !!
My Ripple Koa Tenor has given me a new entusiasm and confidence I also appreciate all the goodies it came with and the excellent and ongoing communication Ive had with UKULELEMATE ...................... something you dont get if you purchase via Ebay or Amazon.

Amazing quality!!

The Bondi Tenor Ripple Koa is an amazing ukulele!! Even a non uke player would see it as a work of art! Beautiful koa that is highlighted by the semi gloss finish and the lovely binding and soundhole and headstock decoration. It has excellent intonation and resonance and it arrived very well set up. The gigbag has a very substantial level of padding, a durable outer surface and good quality zips. I was blown away by the huge number of extras.... in particular the clip on tuner and spare strings. This is a step up in both appearance and playabilty from my other tenor ukes and there is no question my playing has improved even in the short time Ive had it!!
Outstanding customer service from UKULELEMATE!!

Bondi ripple koa tenor ukelele my happy pill and Outstanding service as always

My second time to buy ukelele from ukelelemate, the first was ohana concert ukelele which I bought 3 years ago and now a bondi ripple Koa tenor (actually my third as I help a friend bought a ukelele last year from them and she even got an upgrade) and as always they give an excellent service. I am so happy with my concert and tenor ukelele. Joel, John and the whole ukelelemate are definitely the best.

Great customer service!

I purchased the Koa Tenor Ukulele, and it was delivered very quickly! However, the first ukulele I received had a defect which I was not happy with so I contacted Ukulele Mate about it, and they promptly replaced it! I was very impressed by their customer service and very happy with the 2nd ukulele they sent me

Can you be in love with a Ukulele?

My Uke arrived on Tuesday. I love it and it’s been practically surgically attached to me ever since, apart from when I had a work shift yesterday. As I keep telling my husband “he’s a little beauty”.

I’ve got Waltzing Matilda, Will the circle be unbroken and Keep on the Sunny Side down pat now. I love it more than my guitar, mandolin and banjo and equally as much as my accordion that I inherited from my grandad about 30 years ago.

Thanks so much for all of your help and faultless customer service.
