We are seeing quite a few ukulele groups in the Perth and WA area popping up over the last few years which is an encouraging sign for ukulele players who are based in WA. These perth ukulele groups vary in size starting with just a few folks meeting up once a week at the local bowling club, to larger groups meeting up for 3 day ukulele camps.
This Fremantle meet up commences at 10.30am at the Fib Cafe on Blinco St, Freo. The meetup caters for all ukulele players. They teach strumming, picking and also performing! The group is run by Alan Delacy and the members of the Acid-T ukulele band. They can be tracked down on facebook if you are interested in joining.
For those uke players closer to Perth city, you should join the Subiaco SUFFA group. They meet up on Saturday’s at 8.30am at the Subi Farmer's Market. It's held on the grounds of the Subiaco Primary School. Bring your uke along, grab a coffee and meet some other ukulele players. All skill levels are welcome!
FUJ was founded back in 2009. This is a very well organised event from all reports which takes place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the historical Sullivan Hall, White Gum Valley from 7-10pm. At the FUJ meetup, you will have a chance to meet other perth ukulele players as well as learn new songs and skills. For the brave ones, you can even get up and perform on stage. Its a bunch of fun, we recommend for those Perth ukulele players who are close to Fremantle. Bring $5 to cover the venue hire and refreshments and expect to laugh all night!
