Physically, the body of the Kala Travel uke is about 40% thinner than a typical ukulele. But the arched back adds volume to where it might be lost. Plus, the solid spruce top won't let you down, projecting a rich, bright tone. Being solid wood, it will also mature with time.

First time I ordered strings via this website. Aust Post lost the first package but Chris sent out a second lot of strings without charge. Eventually Aust Post found the first package, Chris didn’t want them returned, just for me to share them with a uke group I lead at work. His love of the ukulele and the connection it brings is obvious, including the info sheets that came with the strings, I started playing 6 years ago, from a background of piano playing. I bought a Kala Concert FMC ‘cos I liked the sound. I continue to be amazed at what a delightful sound this instrument produces. It has a bright sound with good projection. My preference is to string it with Worth Fluorocarbon strings (with a Low G) as this seems to mellow out the sound. The combo - strings and uke - sounds pleasant with my alto voice. I’ve noticed that the fluorocarbon strings settle into their tuning quickly and hold their tuning for ages. They also keep pitch very well, whether I am strumming softly or loudly or finger picking. BTW, as a bonus this uke also looks beautiful! Thanks for excellent service.

I am loving my new uke. The service has been terrific. I am still adjusting to the style of strap, but think I will stick with it despite discouraging comments from fellow uke players. There are lots of other cute stuff in the bundle... don't know if I will end up using much or any of it...it remains to be seen. I found it an extra special touch to have uke lessons made available... again I haven't utilised them but I do feel loved and the uke is great😄

Each ukulele that leaves our warehouse will undergo a strict QC and setup process by our experienced staff. The setup process if fairly similar for all instruments but we will spend more time on the more expensive models. The budget models will receive all of the crucial checks but we won't spends as much time on things such as fretboard lemon oil.
