The 24 series ukuleles are my absolute favourite ukes from the Cordoba company. The pairing of the solid cedar top and spalted maple back is breathtaking. Then they've added the Padauk features on the rosette, body and fretboard. It just works. What a stunning ukulele. Then there is the spalted maple veneer on the headstock......the list goes on.
The benefits of a having a cutaway are twofold. One, it looks great. Two, it's practical. The cutaway gives easy access to the highest frets on the instrument, so you and your hands don't run out of room when climbing upwards on an face-melting shred. Well, maybe not that intense, but whatever a uke like this can produce. Something spectacular I'm sure! Plus, you have the option to plug and play thanks to an inbuilt preamp and tuner. As I said, the list goes on!

I am really most interested in fingerstyle ukulele, hence the need for a cutaway and also a pick-up, in order to raise the volume slightly above the level of the group in strum alongs. The Cordoba is really well balanced in tone, and plays well up the neck as well as in first position. I have strung it with the low G as this is a more versatile tuning for fingerstyle playing. It is really an interesting uke in appearance. The spalted maple back and sides is quite spectacular. A really nice instrument.
The Cordoba 24T-CE Spruce & Spalted Maple Tenor Electric uke was a replacement for a Bondi Tiger Oak Tenor Electric uke that had some issues with the saddle. UkuleleMate were so good with getting this replacement and upgrade sorted, your customer service is second to none. But... as much as the Cordoba is an overall better made uke than the Bondi, there is something less about it. It plays ok but the sound is not as full and warm, and there is less resonance. I loved the little Bondi Tenor Tiger Oak, it was my first uke and, after some slight adjustments (lowering the action and changing the strings), we became great mates as I learnt to play my favourite fingerstyle pieces. Am hoping the Cordoba grows on me but the sound is just not as engaging.
All ukuleles under $1000 are made in China. There are a handful of instruments made in the USA/Australia but they come with a hefty price tag and aren't always worth the price. Often the more affordable instruments are just as good, if not better. At ukulelemate, we have tested thousands of instruments and found the sweetspot where quality meets value.
