Our review
aNueNue's Singer range is a homage to vintage and folk-style instruments. Singer ukuleles, according to aNueNue, are "a new perspective on old traditions", and I have to agree with this statement. After all, ukuleles have a rich history stretching back to the late 1800s. The modern ukulele, complete with its fancy pick ups, mechanical tuning pegs, and factory-precise set ups, may look similar to the vintage models of decades prior, but it is are starkly different in how it performs and sounds. The Singer range harks back to earlier days, most notably through their nostalgic sunburst finish, discrete ornamentation, and use of premium, no-corners-cut materials.
The RT1K Ice Tea Sunburst Tenor is an All Solid Hawaiian Koa ukulele, complete with a sturdy Rosewood bridge and fretboard, Mahogany neck, and gorgeous Maple body binding. The subtle sunburst staining on the face and back is just enough to give the Koa a vintage, mid-century look. The icing on the cake is the vibrant green abalone rosette which pairs perfectly with the deep red and woody hues of the body. Frankly, it is a great looking ukulele.
In regards to sound, the Koa produces a well-balanced tone that leans towards the mellow side of the tonal spectrum with a warm bassy component. As expected with aNueNue, the sound is clear and crisp, with incredibly rich midtones. The clarity of the Black Water fluorocarbons do well compliment to this palette.
If you are feeling a little nostalgic, the Singer RT1K has you covered. It is hard to go wrong with a uke of this quality craftmanship and material grade. A worthy companion for any road-trip or rainy night indoors. Get yours today!
