The song is primarily the work of Paul McCartney, with the exception of the middle eight, which was co-written with John Lennon. It was a number 1 hit for the Beatles and won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1967. The song went on to become one of the Beatles' most widely recorded songs.
