The Pineapple Ukulele was invented by Samual Kamaka in the 1920's. A complete reworking of the ukulele design, the pineapple shape produces a richer, mellower sound than the standard figure eight shape.

The pineapple soon became extremely popular amongst those in the ukelele world and it has been around ever since.

The Lanikai pineapple continues the pineapple tradition. You will be head over heels for the deep, mellow tones and exceptional craftsmanship.

So what are you waiting for – grab your very own pineapple ukulele today!

Joel's Review

Joel's Review - The pineapple sound is more mellow and chilled compared to the traditional shape. If that suits your personality, then you will love it. Those who have a ukulele collection, always have a pineapple in there and they tend to get a lot of attention. Have a listen to the sound clip below and see if you like it. Construction wise, Lanikai ukes are always well built and reliable.

I am a beginner and no expert but this ukulele is great value. It has a nice tone, the sound is better than I expected and I love the colour of the timber. The ukulele is very nicely finished. The complimentary tuner is so useful (after I worked out how to use it), the instructions with it were not very helpful. I can see myself having many hours of fun with this and would recommend this one. I also purchased the bag which is very handy and keeps it safe. (Posted on 27/12/2013)

I wanted a decent ukelele at a cheap enough price and decided on the Lu21p. I researched beginner ukes and kept hearing about the LU21s. I decided to go for the pineapple shaped uke as I prefer to be a bit different.

I do need to tune it quite often, Id say I can play for a couple of hours, then Ill need to tune it up. I guess thats not bad for a beginner uke.

The free songbook was a great addition as it had some songs that I like. (Posted on 1/05/2013)

Ive been playing the uke for years and bought this for my nephew. Its not bad, Im probably used to my Maton and a hard marker on ukes. For what I payed, I cant be too picky.

It's served its purpose and Im sure he will move onto a concert uke soon anyway. (Posted on 10/04/2013)

The pineapple shaped ukes produce a louder sound in my opinion. I prefer that since some of the soparno ukes ive played are pretty soft for sound.

Value for money - this uke cant be beaten. Sure, you can find better ukes but they are gonna be way more expensive. My uke was setup perfectly

This uke produces a rich tone, far more mellow than a standard shape ukelele. I pretty much take it everywhere, got the tuner and bag so Im ready to go.
Strings took some tuning for the first couple of weeks but thats normal for most of the ukes Ive had in the past. Apart from the tuning issue, its spot on this uke (Posted on 7/03/2013)

This uke is lovely. It has a great feel and tone. I also love the shape. The wood is fairly standard for a cheaper uke, I would prefer darker wood, but thats my only gripe. The aquila strings are good quality which I found to be important after my last uke had some crappy strings.

The ukulele is lightweight and easy to carry around. Its made from a laminate wood, so I expected it to be light. Id say its perfect for beginners and kids. You get a far better sound than other laminate ukes Ive heard of.

My only issue is the tuning. I had to tune it constantly for the first week. I since found out this is common with stringed instruments as the strings need to stretch.

The tuner came in handy as I am terrible at tuning by ear lol. Overall this is total value for money, I got more than I expected.

Ive had this uke for nearly 2 years now and I can tell you it sounds better than almost all other ukes Ive tried. I figured since this uke was cheap and sounded so great, imagine how good a more expensive uke will sound. I was wrong. This uke sounds and looks as good as most ukes out there despite its pricetag.

I bought the gigbag also for this uke. Its a bit boring in all black, but it does the job and has kept the uke free of any major damage.

Overall this uke will definitely win your heart. (Posted on 23/01/2013)

Not only a unique look but it sounds WAY fuller than traditional shaped ukes. Its far better than any toy ukulele and at the price you really cant go wrong. (Posted on 16/01/2013)
Small hands are suited to this ukelele. Review by W. Grundy

Ive never played a uke before and I have really small hands. After wanting to play the guitar I was struggling to play it. I decided to try the uke and after a bunch of research watching videos and reading reviws I took the plunge. It was a decision between the lu21p and lu21. I went for the lu21p based on the look - I really loved it.

First thing I noticed - it was hard to keep in tune. Mind you, I am a beginner. I had read about the strings taking a while to stretch, but it was kinda frustrating. Its not so bad now after 3 weeks, I tune it maybe once a week and I play EVERYNIGHT.

I am happy I choose this uke and I would recommend. (Posted on 9/01/2013)

After an initial hiccup where the free tuner was left out, I have been absolutely stoked with my LU21P.

Even though its a lightweight uke, it gives off a fuller sound than figure 8 shaped ukes. I pretty much play this uke exclusively over my others and it comes everywhere with me.

Ive got some other ukes, they are over 4x the price and I dont like risking them on plane flights and trips away. The Lanikai Pineapple is perfect for this and its holding its sounds very well.

Really happy with my pineapple uke. My brother has a similar priced uke from a different brand, doesnt sound anywhere near as good. i have no idea about the difference between pineapple and traditional shape but i just couldnt resist the look. Im certainly no professional so this uke suits me perfect. Still yet to organise my lesson but Ill get around to it.

This pineapple uke gives a much fuller sound than the standard shape ukes. Id say thats because of the shape, Im not an expert, but it definitely sounds better. I was very happy with the price, got delivered in less than 2 days and with a tuner. Happy customer (Posted on 30/04/2012)

I had to tune the uke quite often in the first week, but found out thats due to the stings stretching. After that first week, strings settled and hardly need to tune it now. Overall I am wrapped with this uke, its my first, but I expected more of a toy uke. Its more than a toy, has a nice tone to it. Thanks to ukulelestore.com.au for the fast service and tuner has certainly come in handy. :) (Posted on 12/04/2012)

I am a guitar player, deciding to have a go at the ukes I picked out the lu21p due to the good reviews I had read, cant go wrong with the price and free tuner. Its a perfect starter uke, the tones are much better than I expected, its got a nice warm tone to it and stays in tune nicely. I dont have a bag for it, but its alot more robust than I imagined. Ill no doubt graduate to something bigger in the future, but this is a great starter (Posted on 21/01/2012)

I love this uke but it was pretty frustrating at the start. It wouldnt hold its tune and then a string broke. Luckily I had extra strings to fix it.

Anyhow after a week or so, the strings finally settled and it holds tune perfectly now. It was a battle at the start but definitely worth it now. (Posted on 24/03/2011)
